Healthy Eating: About Fiber

When you are searching for that high octane energy boost through foods, you will find that a diet high in fiber to be exactly what you have been looking for. Even though there is a huge amount of research to support the facts on fiber being a powerful energy boosting nutrient, there still are many people not taking these facts very seriously.

Here are 9 facts about fiber that will boost your energy and benefit your healthiness:

1. Fiber is a vital nutrient that fights diseases. A diet high in fiber is known to help prevent colon cancer and heart disease. If you are using high amounts of fiber, then you are helping the body to eliminate cholesterol by the process of binding it in the digestive tract. Fiber has been the natural healthy way to end constipation for thousands of years.

2. Fiber has been shown to actually help with over-eating. All foods high in fiber will take longer to chew, and to digest. This is a good way to make you feel satisfied much longer, while also helping with your energy levels.

3. Many of our most popular foods do not have anywhere near enough of the daily fiber nutrition that our bodies' need. If you are eating daily diets of quick fix items or fast foods, then you are not getting enough fiber, and you really may need to increase your fiber intake through healthynutritious fiber-filled diets.

4. To get the most fiber, go for foods full of grains. Dietary fiber, is not the right fiber, because it is actually a plant matter that we are not able to digest. The best food sources full of fiber are whole grains and concentrated grain products.

5. Fiber is a very important nutritional need for children, and they need plenty of it daily. When trying toget your children to intake enough daily fiber, make sure to give then plenty of raw fruits and vegetables. There are even many fortified breakfast cereals out on the shelves today that are fiber packed, and healthy cereals are not only good for breakfast, but they also make great snacks too!

6. When you are getting plenty of fiber, your body also will require much more water. Since water is crucial anyway, it could never hurt to get more water in our diets. With fiber, the extra water is needed so to better move the fiber throughout your digestive tract. With a good daily diet of fiber, you will needto intake at least eight or more glasses a day.

7. Fiber is one of the few natural nutrients that can not be cooked out. This is good news when cookingfruits and vegetables, since sometimes we all would prefer something to be cooked instead of always eating raw foods. Another fiber fact is that fiber isn't just on the outside skins of fruits and vegetables, but throughout the complete food items.

8.When it comes to our requirements of daily fiber, just make sure to be consuming no more than 50 grams a day. If you are eating more than 50 grams daily, you then run the risks of diarrhea and bloating These types of problems will cause interference with your body's ability to absorb any other key minerals.

9. With only a little extra effort, it is not that hard to get the extra fiber that you need daily in your diet. As long as you are working daily on eating the healthiest of foods and make sure to keep it balanced with a variety, you will then be well on your way to a good start of your daily fiber needs.
